Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive System Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting core IT systems, providing Level 2 Help Desk support, administering a variety of business-critical applications, and ensuring the health and security of our infrastructure. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

●        Help Desk Support (L2):

o   Provide second-level support for escalated technical issues.

o   Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network problems.

o   Collaborate with Level 1 support and escalate to higher tiers when necessary.

 

●        Application Administration:

o   Manage and maintain various enterprise applications (e.g. Slack, Jira, etc).

o   Perform user account provisioning, access control, and configuration changes.

o   Coordinate with vendors for updates, support, and licensing.

 

●        Equipment Deployment:

o   Configure, deploy, and decommission hardware including desktops, laptops, and peripherals.

o   Ensure proper asset tagging and inventory management.

o   Support remote and hybrid workers with equipment needs.

o   Sanitize and destroy media and equipment for e-waste disposal.

 

●        Monitoring & Performance Management:

o   Utilize monitoring tools to ensure system availability and performance.

o   Respond to alerts and proactively identify potential issues.

 

●        Auditing & Compliance:

o   Conduct regular audits of systems, accounts, and configurations.

o   Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

 

●        Backup & Recovery:

o   Oversee backup schedules and validate successful data backups.

o   Assist with disaster recovery testing and planning.

 

●        Onsite Support for Remote IT:

o   Serve as the hands-on resource for remote IT teams.

o   Facilitate hardware troubleshooting, remote access, and physical maintenance.

 

●        Patch Management:

o   Coordinate and apply operating system and application patches.

o   Test and validate updates to minimize disruption.

 

●        Documentation:

o   Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and support tickets.

o   Create and update knowledge base articles for internal IT use.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

●        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

●        2+ years in a System Administrator or IT Support role.

●        Experience with Windows/Linux/Mac OS, Office 365, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals.

●        Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote support tools, and endpoint management platforms.

●        Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

●        Preferred experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)

●        Preferred Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or ITIL Foundation

●        Consistently adheres to the time management policies and procedures.

●        Completes job responsibilities in a quality and timely manner.

 

Physical Demands

This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling, or feeling, speaking, listening, and high-level cognitive thinking. Also, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The position requires the ability to travel (~25% of time), drive a vehicle, and utilize other forms of transportation.

Working Environment

The position is Hybrid. This position requires domestic / international travel up to 25%.
